How does God show up in your life, and why is that? (Webinar FAQ)

January 16th, 2012

This past week I shared that I am currently assembling the inaugural group for a 10-week Webinar: Transforming the Conversation in Your Head About Yourself, God and Life. Here’s a sampling of what people have expressed to me over the years in response to my authoring three books about my journey of shedding religion to find God and myself.

I’d like to keep the group to 12 people; there are 6 slots still remaining. I’ve received some questions about the Webinar that I decided to answer in this post:

What kind of time commitment will be necessary?

The weekly Webinar will be 60 minutes. Each session will include some homework to be completed by the next week’s session. The homework is diverse, ranging from taking on a new way of being during the week or having personal conversations with people in your life. It normally won’t be something you can just assign a time slot for. In terms of your participation and involvement with the rest of the group, your partner, and the FB Page depends on your intention. There’s no rules or expectations; just what you decide to create with others based on what you need.

What if I can’t afford the $200?

The $200 covers the entire 10-week seminar, including the weekly Webinar and personal coaching. I attach a cost to it for two reasons: 1) I have to pay bills, and 2) A financial investment in the process creates a context for committed involvement. If I only charged my minimum rate for personal coaching ($50 an hour), the Webinar would cost $500 per person. So basically I shaved off $300 and added additional components to the experience.  Unless I can raise scholarship monies for those who can’t pay the $200, I’m requesting that people invite others to assist you financially to help make it happen.

Is the Webinar about taking on new beliefs or being more devout in my faith?

No. The Webinar is about the context in which faith, religion, spirituality, and God show up and exist in your life. For example, if you have a flawed golf stroke, practicing more won’t help. You’ll just perfect a flawed golf stroke, which will result in an unproductive, frustrating and self-defeating golf game. Likewise, if the context in which you know God is flawed, trying harder will only produce more of the same. Until we transform the inner conversation or context in which God shows up in our lives, we will never find the freedom we were hoping for. Instead, it will only assure that we stay separated from ourselves, others, God and life. The game of golf is not the problem, it’s our flawed stroke that makes our experience of gold miserable. God, faith, religion and spirituality can either be the biggest obstacle in your life or an empowering foundation and energy for everything that matters to you.

When does the Webinar begin?

I’m planning to begin the Webinar near the end of February. I’m hoping to coordinate it with the release of my new book, Being Jesus in Nashville because I’m wanting participants to be reading the book during the 10 weeks. I’ll let people know when a specific date for the Webinar is established.
