close eyes and count to 5
Jim January 18th, 2007

Someone recently asked me why I am so fascinated with eyes. Many of my blog pics are eyes. Jesus once said, “The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, it’s all good.” Many of the miracles Jesus performed were restoring sight to the blind. We have physical senses for engaging the physical world. We also have spiritual senses to live in the present spiritual reality of God’s kingdom.
Okay, let’s try something. Right now you see a long tall fence separating you and God. You are on one side of the fence and God is on the other side walking along with you. On your side is your human reality and on the other side is God’s reality. Many years ago Jesus stepped through that fence and made an opening for you to access. You’ve been going back to the opening Jesus came through in order to access God on the other side.
Maybe it’s more than that. Maybe Jesus was trying to show us that it is possible to walk through this world one with God. Maybe Jesus wanted us to open our eyes and see there is no separation. Okay, close your eyes and count to 5: 1…2…3…4…5! Open your eyes. Do you see? The fence is transparent. It was only there as an illusion in your mind. The kingdom of God has come in Christ. It’s right there. Open your eyes.

There was time in my life where I was losing weight and if I stepped on the scale and gained 1/4 lb I would just freak. Finally God said STOP the madness! I don’t have a scale around at the moment. Maybe someday but how I felt about myself was alllllll wrapped up in 1/4 lb!
I’m going to be looking at eyes more. Should be interesting. Sometimes when I am getting down at myself about all that I don’t do, I hear the voice of God say, “The kingdom of God is within you……You look for me in the scriptures but I am (can’t remember the exact words but something like) I right here.
God bless you friend. I loved the statement that “there are no rock stars in the kingdom of God, just jars of clay”

Good! Thanks Jim…It all makes sense now. The eyes have it.
I like eyes too BTW. . . I was just wondering if that was conscious thing . . . ya know. . .. .here an eye, there an eye, everywhere an eye-eye. . eee-I-eee-I —OH!
Along those lines,
Our eyes are quite a gate too, aren’t they?
I’ve wondered what those born blind struggle with in regards to temptation. It seems we are often tempted through this gate. Whether to covet, to lust, to envy, and much more.
Our eyes can trap us into believing what isn’t real. How good to have other eyes with perspective like yours, and others, to show us the way a bit better. Without Jesus, I guess we’re actually all really truly blind beggers. Blind Beggars turned into sighted co-heirs. Nice gig.
