my flight leaves nashville at 6:00 a.m. monday morning going to california. i’m speaking and hanging at the Faith Forward Forum. i’m going to share how God is using the nobodies of this world to give birth to the kingdom of God on earth. i return to nashville on friday. the schedule looks full and i may be a little slow in getting back with folks on emails and such. i’d appreciate your prayers.

have a great time, be a nobody talking about nobody and that will be way powerful!
I just finished Divine Nobodies yesterday. Man, it hit ‘on’ for me. I grew up in a very conservative evangelical church – I knew God was real, but there was something big missing. Five years ago I left that church to start an modern emergent church. That endeavour took all my time and energy, and love. I emptied out. Doing all the God stuff… but nothing left for my wife or kids or friends, or anyone else – and the worst part was that I had nothing left for God – I drifted from knowing His love, and was empty and lonely. I left that church too, and am now just trying to find God again… at just the right time in my life God put your book in my hands – thanks for writing. I read your blogs – they boost my belief. Brother, I’m praying for you on your trip to California (say HI to Arnold for me). Peace, Terry
Maybe I’m not hearing you fully, but I seem to be getting a Lone Ranger vibe in a couple places. Don’t get me wrong, I liked it (mostly) but the idea that “me an Jesus” are just gonna run around doing our thing seems to miss the real point of the whole body metaphor. When Paul describes us as a body, he explains it to mean that we are all of us together Christ’s body, not each of us alone. We cannot say, “I don’t need you” because each of us needs the others. The other stuff you said resonated with me, so maybe I’m missing something or misunderstanding something, but I feel like you’re way underselling the importance of fellowship and accountability.
hey rob, i’m right with you. the close relationships and community i have with others has and is a vital part of my journey with God.
peace, jim
